Listen to This Before You Start Your day
Walter Elias Disney was born in Chicago, Illinois, United States, on 5th Dec. 1901. At four, he and his family relocated to a farm in Marcelline, Missouri, where his uncle had just bought land. Walter grew up within this vicinity, and as a child, he loved drawing. His passion for drawing was ignited after he got paid to draw the horse of a well-respected doctor who lived within the neighbourhood. He sharpened his drawing skill by copying front-page cartoons and later learned how to beautify his drawings with crayons and watercolours.
In 1911 when Walter attended The Benton Grammar school in Kansas City, he, fortunately, met a fellow-student who had a passion for pictures and imagery just like himself. This friend of his was from a family of theatre fans, and in no time, he familiarized Walter with Vaudeville world and motion pictures. When Walter got admitted into high school, he was the cartoonist of the school newspaper, helping to create patriotic pictures of the First World War.
